An original 1956 Sherwood Green Fender Stratocaster (if you could find one) would be getting on for 6 figures these days. However, here is the next best thing, a Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt reissue.
There is a very small team of highly skilled luthiers within the Fender Custom Shop who have earned the title of Master Builder. A guitar made by one of Fender’s Master Builders is the cream of the crop. Greg Fessler has been building guitars in the Fender Custom Shop since 1990 and is very highly regarded and known for his meticulous attention to detail. He has built personal instruments for a host of well known players including Joe Bonamassa, Jeff Healey, Hank Marvin, Robben Ford, John Meyer…to name a few.
So it goes without saying that this particular guitar has been built to the highest of standards, using the best possible materials available and built with an incredible attention to detail making it as authentic to true vintage as possible. The quality of the relic work for example is absolutely stunning. It looks totally authentic and is just about as close to a natural relic as possible – even with some small areas of unique wear that only real vintage instruments show. It’s certainly not the generic relic’ing that a lot of regular Custom Shop guitars have.
This Strat plays and sounds fantastic. The soft V neck profile is extremely comfortable to play and the set of John English grey bottom pick-ups are well balanced and articulate. If you are a Stratocaster fanatic then this is one that would grace any Strat collection. If you are looking for a top drawer Strat to add to your arsenal and want something with bags of cool vintage vibe then look no further.
Comes with a new Fender G&G Deluxe Tweed case, COA, Shop Floor Traveller and some case candy.
